Components for Automation
The WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM is a flexible fieldbus-independent solution for decentralized automation tasks. With the relay, function and interface modules, as well as overvoltage protection, WAGO provides a suitable interface for any application.
Flexibility and freedom in planning are the major advantages of modular and fieldbus-independent devices used for decentralized automation. WAGO presented a fieldbus system in this sector as early as 1995 with which fieldbus nodes could be precisely matched to fit a specific application based on the building block principle. Since then, we have continued to expand and further develop this system.
I/O systems, interface modules, power supply and surge protection systems from WAGO are employed when the demand is for high performance and 100% safety and reliability, such as in industry, in process engineering, in building automation and, of course, in all safety-related and hazardous areas.
WAGO's AUTOMATION division provides solutions that are based on both fieldbus and spring pressure termination technologies, as well as interface modules for the industry, process technology and building systems sectors.
PLC I/O-IPC for WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750/753
With the I/O-IPC, WAGO presents a robust automation device based on Linux 2.6 with real-time extensions. The industry hardened DIN rail-mountable PC offers high computing power in the smallest spaces possible. A universal platform is made available to all automation system users ranging from PLC programmers up to Linux experts.
The I/O-IPC is the ideal embedded-PC platform for machine-oriented use in the industrial environment. It can be used as a communication gateway and an integrated Web server enables operation via intranet or Internet. For communication with higher-level systems and the IT world, the I/O-IPC has two completely-independent Fast Ethernet interfaces, 2xUSB, RS-232 and a CompactFlash interface. The use of a DVI interface for direct connection of a monitor is especially worth mentioning. Optional interfaces for PROFIBUS DP and CANopen are provided for the fieldbus communication. Nearly all the more than 400 input and output modules from the portfolio of the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM can be used with the I/O-IPC. The fan-free and passively-cooled DIN rail-mountable PC offers high computing power in the smallest space possible. It is scalable from Geode 266 MHz via Celeron 600 MHz up to Pentium M 1.4 GHz.No movable data memories have been used in order to secure it against vibrations. A retain memory is available for non-volatile storage of PLC variables. The built-in real-time clock is buffered by a battery.
Unlimited Automation in Extreme Environments – the New WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 XTR
We automate where others capitulate: The WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 XTR not only stands out in extreme temperature environments of -40 °C to +70 °C. Its high impulse-voltage withstand also makes XTR the efficient and reliable solution for energy and process technologies.
XTR – is our abbreviation for extreme protection against climatic influences, vibration, impacts and surge voltages. These conditions occur primarily in places in which technology is exposed to weather conditions, for example in the sector of renewable energy sources such as wind power, photovoltaic plants or in transformer stations. The automation systems used in these sectors often require additional and expensive protection features to “defy” the climatic and mechanical forces at work on them.
XTR can be used without any additional measures, thus reducing the space requirements on the DIN rail, while reducing energy and maintenance costs and enhancing productivity. All of these features make the XTR the perfect “all-in-one” solution for feed-in management and monitoring of power distribution grids.
Internal Protection Instead of Additional Safety Measures
The WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 XTR leaves no needs unfulfilled: It can be used without any expensive and space-consuming cooling systems, protection circuits or other special solutions. However, it can still be used in extreme temperature conditions of -40 °C to +70 °C and at elevations of up to 5,000 m.
The insulation withstand to impulse voltages is also impressive. It offers reliable protection of the XTR electronics against impulse voltages arising from switching actions and arcing of up to 1.0 kV (24 V modules) and 5.0 kV (230 V modules). Interference emissions have been reduced while interference resistance has been enhanced. This enables the system to even be used in telecontrol applications with more stringent hardware requirements.
A further highlight of the individual components is their compact dimensions: With up to 16 channels over a mere width of 12 mm, these modules save plenty of space in the control cabinet. The DIN rail with the XTR components can be installed near powerful motors or power circuit breakers. The mechanical forces that are exerted in the vicinity of those components have no effect whatsoever on the XTR modules: Immunity to vibrations of up to 5g (50 m/s²) and impact resistance of up to 25g (250 m/s²) keep your applications sure, safe and reliable at all times.
Fully Loaded with Features – Optimal for Telecontrol and Remote Maintenance
The controllers can be programmed in accordance with IEC 61131-3 in the familiar CODESYS environment. The CANopen, PROFIBUS DP and Modbus-TCP/-UPD/-RTU protocols (based on specific device) provide flexible connection to fieldbus systems and external input/output devices. The telecontroller also supports the IEC 60870-5-101, -103 and -104, 61400-25 and 61850-7 protocols for wireless (GPRS), wired (via ETHERNET) or landline (ISDN/analog) connection to the control system. In the event of a connection disruption, all relevant data is stored and transmitted at a later time to the control system.
The many components of this system stand out not only thanks to their robustness, but also to their performance and energy efficiency: Depending on the specific model, energy-saving 16-bit or 32-bit CPUs "churn" inside the devices, surrounded by an up to 1024 kB program and data memory and a 32 kB retain memory. Some versions also feature a 2-port switch and an SD card interface for excellent performance and flexibility. This enables the data memory to be expanded to 32 GB to offer the reserves required for complex telecontrol tasks. An integrated Web server is also on board to make configuring of the WAGO XTR via the Internet or intranet pure child's play and for evaluating diagnostics.
